Come Fishing With Captain Drew
Captain Drew Zapadinsky, or Captain Z holds a MMC 100T license. "Z" is CPR, First Aid, AED certified, holds a FCC MROP permit, and is enrolled in a USCG drug consortium program.
An avid outdoorsman, Captain Z's passion for the water started on the shores of Lake Erie and Lake Ontario, further experience on big water was earned on the Atlantic Ocean out of NY during his college years before moving to California.
For 3 decades, Captain Z has been honing techniques to become successful on these Northern California waters, chasing King Salmon, Ling and Rock Cods, Halibut in the warmer months in San Francisco and Tomales Bays, and crabbing the sandy bottoms of Bodega Bay.
F/V RIYA
Welcome Aboard!! F/V RIYA awaits!!
RIYA, (pronounced REEYAH), is a unique vessel. She is a 1998 MAKO ATTACK 333. One of less than 100, and one of the last Mako boats made before Tracker purchased the company, RIYA is a stunner. Sleek lines, a forward lower cabin with enclosed head and a small kitchenette, large T-Top for shade, lots of rear deck space to move around, she is ready to take on your fishing and touring needs!!
What Should I Bring??
As with any smaller vessel, space is a premium!! We do recommend you bring ice, an ice chest or cooler for your catch afterwards, but please leave it in your vehicle. There will not be space onboard for them.
The Vessel is equipped with hoop nets and fishing rods and reels. We use Penn Rods and Shimano TR series reels. We supply basic tackle, and feeding the rocks is expected when fishing over rocks. If you are having trouble, and constantly losing gear, you may be charged for replacements. Please ask one of our deckhands to assist you, they are very knowledgeable and are happy to help! You are also welcome to bring your own gear if you are more comfortable using your own.
CLOTHING
The Pacific Ocean around Bodega Bay is harsh. Yes, there are times it is as calm as a lake, warm and sunny weather, with a light breeze. This is not always the case! We suggest dressing in LAYERS! It is far easier to remove clothing to cool off than put on that which you did not bring! Please check the weather reports and dress accordingly.
LUNCH
Please bring your own food, and liquids. The vessel carries a supply of bottled water, at times gatorade, and sometimes granola bars. We recommend packing more than you think you would normally eat as the ocean takes a lot out of you, and replenishing spent energy will help make the trip more enjoyable
LICENSE
You will need a valid fishing license. We do not provide this, or have the ability to sell you one on your trip! Licenses are available both at certain stores, and online. We will check to make certain you have one. If we are boarded by CDFW, they will want to see each persons and will issue citations!!
MEDICINE
There is no better way to have a horrible day on the water than being sea sick. No one likes being sea sick. There is always a chance this will happen. Please bring anti sea sickness medication, Dramamine and Bonine are a few name brands that work. It is recommended to take one the night before, another when you awaken, and one later in the day if needed. If you are feeling under the weather, you may wish to reschedule.
SUNSCREEN
The boat has lots of shade from above, but the reflection off the water will find a way. Sunscreen is recommended
WHAT NOT TO BRING!!
YOUR SAFETY IS OUR FIRST CONCERN!!
Please do not bring firearms onboard, just a bad idea. Hard alcohol is not permitted. If you pregame in the parking lot and the Captain or Deckhand feel it would be unsafe for you to be at sea, you will not be allowed to board and will be charged your fare regardless. The Vessel and its crew are under Federal Maritime Law. This means no federally illegal drugs will be tolerated, marijuana included.
